2012 will bring a law change for California notaries public, but for most notaries, you do not need to be concerned. Basically, the law has changed protests so you cannot charge (most notaries will never do this) and they also included Powers of Attorney in the exempt list for a Subscribing Witness (you couldn't do this anyway since the POA required a thumbprint in the journal). So, if you want to read it, here it is: https://gsn.notary.net/assets/2012-new-ca-notary-laws.pd f"> https://gsn.notary.net/assets/2012-new-ca-notary-laws.pdf
We now have the new 2012 California Notary Handbook available: https://gsn.notary.net/supplies/?productid=11 8"> https://gsn.notary.net/supplies/?productid=118 . You can also download a PDF copy of it for free here: https://www.sos.ca.gov/business/notary/handbook.ht m"> https://www.sos.ca.gov/business/notary/handbook.htm
Andy,
Does your company supply a way for us to get background screening? I am doing notaries for Fidelity National Financial and they are asking for one with a certificate that shows I am certified.

Hi Andy..
Although I'm sure you're on this already, you might want to make sure your check is accepted. The company you use is the same one used by NotRot - CrimCheck - and it's unacceptable to many. My reading of that SPW hogwash is these companies are only accepting NNA or Sterling. This is a fight you, the promotor of CrimCheck, and CrimCheck, and NotRot are all going to have to wage on your own - that this purported authority has decided that this product you promote is inferior to them so your product should not be used. If I were you, and CrimCheck, I'd be forwarding their crapola edict to my attorney for review.
Just a thought and a little bug in your ear - as I'm sure you don't already have enough to do. 🙂
