Jeff, IMO the best list is on Notary Rotary. Members have provided feedback and ratings for companies so you can look up a company's rep before you sign up with them.
Just check the companies out very very carefully. And BELIEVE WHAT YOU READ!! If a company has a lousy rep, especially of not paying notaries, don't think it's going to be any different for you.
Andy, no offense and nothing against notary.net - I love this website. But NotRot has one of the most comprehensive lists of companies that I've found.
