Notary.net Refund and Returns Policy

Eligibility

Whether or not your order is eligible for a full or partial refund depends on the type of products you have purchased. Here are the general terms:

  1. If you are not satisfied with a stock/non-customized item such as a notary journal, you may return it to us within 30 days for a full refund of the purchase price net of any discounts you may have received. The cost of return shipping is not included. In order to receive the refund, the item must be in exactly the same condition you received it upon receipt in our office. Please do your best to ensure you need the product you are ordering – the cost of shipping is often a large portion of the product cost.
  2. If a product is defective, you must contact us to describe the defect and your requested resolution within 30 days. Depending on the type of product and the type of defect, we may ask you to return it at our expense OR ask that you keep or destroy it. In both cases, you will be granted an exchange or a refund. Here are a couple very rare defect examples:
    – a notary stamp is leaking ink
    – notary journal pages are upside-down
  3. If you purchased a notary bond or errors and omissions insurance, you should check the bond or policy wording for the return/cancellation provision. In most bond cases, provided you have not filed it, you may return the original bond to us within 30 days for a full refund. In most errors and omissions insurance cases, we should be able to flat cancel (or void) your policy within 30 days of purchase back to the effective date for a full refund. However, if your policy contains “fully-earned” wording, a return of premium may not be available to you. If you have had your policy for more than 30 days, it may be possible to cancel for a pro-rata refund. Again, it depends on the policy wording.
  4. If you have purchased a customized product, such as a notary stamp, and you realize there is an error in your notarial information (for example, a spelling error in your name or a commission expiration date that is wrong), you will be entitled to a refund or exchange at our expense only if we made the mistake. However, such mistakes are extremely rare because our system uses the information YOU have provided to make your stamp or seal in almost all cases. If you made the mistake (because mistakes happen), we will usually work with you on a heavily-discounted replacement product.
  5. If you have received someone else’s product(s), please contact our office immediately for further instructions. We will identify the source of the problem and work-up a remedy.
  6. Notary training courses are 100% refundable within 30 days if you are not satisfied AND you have not completed the course and received a certificate. If you start the course and decide you don’t like the material or that online training is not for you, please contact us immediately to discuss your options.
  7. Shipping costs are generally NOT REFUNDABLE due to delayed delivery. It is extremely rare that we are able to get the money back from a delivery service we have paid to send you your products, even in the case of expedited shipping. Take UPS Next Day Air, for example. In our experience, if we do our part by dropping your package on time, but UPS misses the mark by either not picking up a box (which we rarely use any more for this reason) or failing on the delivery commitment date or time, they will almost NEVER refund our money. They always cite their terms and conditions, which include a large number of exceptions such as weather. We’ve seen things such as a UPS Next Day Air envelope out-for-delivery on a sunny day in Philadelphia that was inexplicably returned to the hub mid-day with no delivery attempt, then delivered the following day, then refused a delivery commitment refund without providing a reason. We’ve also seen USPS mail sent to California that got misdirected to Hawaii by the US Postal Service. The bottom line is that it is not our responsibility to pay for carrier failures. We will, however, do our best to work with you on a fair resolution.
  8. Lost mail, mail theft, porch pirates, etc. The United States Postal Service has a process for tracking lost mail and reporting mail theft. If you have tracking on your order and you see your package bouncing all over the country, you may need a mail trace; if you have a delivery confirmation, but no package was delivered to the shipping address on your order, you may need to report your mail and notary supplies as stolen. The process should start with the USPS – usually your letter carrier or your local Post Office – and should continue with your commission authority and our office. When you are ready to call us, please keep our position in-mind, especially in the case of mail stolen from your location. We made your supplies, we shipped your supplies, and we received a delivery confirmation for your supplies. It is not entirely reasonable to expect that we should have to incur the entire cost of replacing your supplies when we did our part. We will, however, work with you on a fair resolution. Please contact us to learn more.

Exchange Processing

Depending on the type of product and the nature of the issue, exchanges may be mailed the same day the issue is brought to our attention OR upon receipt of a return product. If your product is virtual, such as notary training or an errors and omissions policy, and you are looking for an exchange, we will get it done as quickly as we can (usually within 1 business day).

Refund Processing

Refunds are typically made within 5 business days of having everything we need to process the refund and typically back to the same method of payment (for example, refund to a credit card or a PayPal account). Once the refund is made on our end, it still may take up to 3 additional days to post to your account. Please be patient and contact us if you do not see it within 10 days total.
