To become a notary or renew your notary commission in this state, you must meet the following requirements:

(1) be at least 18 years of age

(2) be a resident of this state

(3) possess your civil rights (a felon cannot be a notary)

(4) have never had your notary commission revoked in another state

You must complete the online notary training class through the Secretary of State’s training site and pass an exam.
